Lanarkshire and logistics go hand in hand due to the central location and connectivity it offers to the rest of Scotland. It is no surprise that the region has the highest number of companies involved in the logistics sector in Scotland, contributing over £1.1m to Lanarkshire’s economy.
Lanarkshire plays a role in almost every aspect from warehousing to next day pallet delivery. Companies such as Dalkeith and the Russell Group have been established in the area for over 40 years and have continued to thrive. The central location has also led other companies including the Co-Operative Group’s Food sector choosing the area for their Scottish distribution centre.
Official logistics provider to Glasgow 2014, DB Schenker, also operates Scotland’s first Eurofreight Terminal. This provides rail cargo services throughout the UK and Europe and allows businesses to remain competitive and reduce their carbon footprint.
