Scotland is home to the second largest life sciences industry cluster in the UK with Lanarkshire, Edinburgh and Glasgow, forming the major life sciences corridor in Scotland.
Bespoke facilities such as BioCity Scotland which sits along the M8 corridor in Lanarkshire has become a dedicated centre for a wide range of research, training and thought leadership in the industry. More recently, a funding boost from the government has allowed the development of MediCity, a centre that will be a focus for the commercialisation and innovation in the fields of healthcare and wellness.
Lanarkshire is also proud to be a highly nurturing environment which wants to ensure new businesses have the support they need to flourish. Many companies in the life sciences sector are entrepreneurial start-ups or collaborations with Scottish universities and Lanarkshire councils strive to support their goals.
Biogelx, a company who produce leading edge peptide hydrogels for the toxicology sector and TC BioPharm, a clinical development company are just two of the many vital life sciences companies who have a base in Lanarkshire.
