Case Study

AG Barr

Lanarkshire is home to one of the UK’s leading independent drinks manufacturer, Barr Soft Drinks. Established by Robert Barr in Falkirk in 1875, the company now produces a large range of soft drinks including IRN-BRU –treasured by many as a key aspect of Scottish culture. They also produce Barr flavoured carbonates, Rubicon exotic juice drinks, KA, Strathmore Spring Water, and Rockstar energy drink (under a license agreement with Rockstar Inc USA).

The company have over 950 employees across 12 sites in the UK. Barr Soft Drinks is also a signatory of the 2013 Courtauld Commitment phase 3 which aims to encourage more recycling, reduce the carbon impact of grocery packaging, and reduce waste from household food and drink, packaging and the supply chain.

“One of the main reasons AG Barr came to Lanarkshire was the availability of competitively price plots of land. The sufficient size of the land was attractive with the capacity to accommodate the new building and infrastructure that has been added over the years as our business has grown. Lanarkshire offers AG Barr the room to grow and expand.”
