Privacy and cookies
Our commitment to privacy
There are currently 3 ways in which we collect personal information:-
Information and service requests
If you request information or a service via email, letter or telephone, we may need your personal details to process that request.
There is a range of online forms to allow you to make comment or request particular services.
Each form requests your contact details and if you do provide personal information we will use it only to process your request and, thereafter in accordance with the individual Data Protection registrations for the services provided.
To help us monitor website trends and statistics, our webserver collects visitor information such as IP address, city or country of origin, type of browser and operating system used, pages visited and duration of visit. These statistics are anonymised and we do not use this information to identify individuals.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
We use Google Analytics to analyse the use of our website and help us create a more useful and easy to use site. Google Analytics uses several small text files called ‘cookies’ which are saved on your computer, to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour. The data collected is completely anonymous and does not store any personal details.
The information, collected by Google through the use of the cookie (including your IP address), is used to analyse how visitors make use of the website and allows the councils to gather statistical information such as website activity, visitor numbers, popular pages etc.
If you would like to opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics you can use the Opt out tool.
The councils are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and at all times will comply with the terms of the Act when processing your personal data.
If you give us personal data as part of an information or service request through this website, we will only process your data for the purpose or purposes given unless we are required or entitled by law or an order of court to produce the personal data for another purpose. When processing any requests we may have to pass it to another Council service or agency.
